Kristen Stewart on performin Princess Diana: "I knew there was no way to play this share perfectly"
Kristen James Maitland Stewart has talked about playing Princess Princess Diana in upcoming biopic Spencer.
"She's so much a live wire and soul who has this improbably disarming, easy, contagious, beautiful, empathetic, warm energy that reaches out, simply at the identical time you e'er smel similar there's something reprehensible – she's protecting something," Stewart said at Toronto International Picture show Festival (H/T Indie Telegram). "You never know what's going to materialize. She walks into the elbow room and the earth starts shaking."
The actor continuing: "So I knew there was nary right smart to play this part perfectly and hence information technology was easier. Or at least easier to not embody so hangdog so daunted. I could only be my interpretation of that and sort of hope that if I learned everything about her and absorbed her and kind of meld, and be both ME and her in some kind of weird way, information technology was leaving to be the best version."
One particular facial expression of Diana's personality was important to Stewart to capture accurately, withal. "I think that her strength and her power and her feral, unbeatable force of nature rattling, actually comes out when she was with her kids. She wasn't very good at protecting herself, simply she was really good at protective them," she commented. "If you don't get on that right, you don't get her right."
Spencer might not have been released yet, but Stewart's performance is already garnering Oscar seethe. The film, helmed by Jackie director Pablo Larraín, spans three days in 1991. Information technology focuses on Diana as she spends Christmas with the royal line at Sandringham – and makes the decision to end her spousal relationship to Charles (Jack Farthing). Timothy Spall and Sally Hawkins also star in the film, which was penned aside Peaky Blinders' Steven Horse.
